It is said that variety is the spice of life, and soon Team Redstone will enjoy an even wider variety of dining options near the office. The Redstone Gateway restaurants are on track for a late summer opening, which will bring four dining options to the Gate 9 area. The 12,000 square feet of dining space will include everything from fast casual dining for the worker on the go to a conference center ideal for office events and personal celebrations.

“(The goal is to provide) fantastic food and service in an unexpected place,” said Michael Northern, vice president for WJP Restaurant Group, the developers of the project.

The restaurants are being constructed as part of the first phase of the 468 acre Redstone Gateway project that will eventually encompass approximately 4.6 million square feet of office, retail and hospitality space. Phase one also includes a TownePlace Suites by Marriott hotel currently under construction and scheduled to open early this summer.

These are not your typical chain restaurants. Northern said they have worked to tailor the restaurants to meet the needs of the community, both on- and off-post.

“These are businesses created for Huntsville from the ground up,” he said.

One of the draws of this new restaurant venue is that members of Team Redstone will be able to enjoy a quick bite for lunch with their friends and family who do not work on-post, but still stay close to the office. In addition, take-out and delivery service will be available.

“We have developed a balance between fast casual and sit down so everyone has a fair chance at lunch,” Northern said.

A job fair will be held soon to fill the 75 jobs that the restaurants are bringing to the community. A grand opening is scheduled for Oct. 10.

Fiero Mexican Grill, opening Sept. 12

Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Fiero Mexican Grill is tailored for the diner who needs quick service, but wants a high-quality dining experience in a festive atmosphere. Its food offerings will include fire-grilled steak, honey lime-gilled chicken, fresh salsa prepared daily and more.

Redstone Gateway Conference & Dining Center, opening Sept. 12

Available every day except Thanksgiving and Christmas

The Redstone Gateway Conference & Dining Center hopes to fulfill a need in the community for a smaller event venue, but one that still boasts top-notch dining. “The mission here is to have restaurant-quality food where you might not expect it,” Northern said. The space, which will host 130 people, will be equipped with Wi-Fi, flat-panel monitors and conference phone sets to meet the needs of offices and professional groups. Not just limited to work events, this center will also be available for birthday celebrations, retirement parties and personal events, with catering services available.

Dipwich Original American Sandwiches, opening Sept. 26

Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Dipwich sandwiches will offer a variety of sandwich options, fresh-cut French fries and premium milkshakes in a classic Americana environment. Like Fiero Mexican Grill, it will be a quick, casual dining establishment but offer higher-quality choices than the average fast-food restaurant.

Rocket City Tavern, opening Oct. 10

Lunch and dinner, Monday through Thursday from 10:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.; Friday from 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m.; Dinner only on Saturday and Sunday from 4:00 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Rocket City Tavern’s motto is, “Where People and History Meet for Great Food and Drink.” Drawing inspiration from Huntsville’s rich history in space exploration and missile defense, the tavern will have a historic, personalized theme. Both indoor and outdoor seating will be available to complement the unique indoor/outdoor bar that will feature local microbrew craft beers. The tavern will also include several flat-screen television monitors so diners can enjoy sporting events while eating. The all-day menu will include burgers, sandwiches, salads, entrees and a variety of desserts.
