Overview

As Huntsville prepares to celebrate the state's bicentennial, the Historical Society will spend the next two years focusing on some of the biggest stories of the city’s origin and development over more than two centuries – Where did Huntsville come from? What role did it play in Alabama’s statehood? What happened here during the Civil War? Why is Huntsville the Rocket City?  William Hampton, creator of the Huntsville Revisited Facebook group will present on September 10, followed by Terri L. French, author of "Huntsville: Textile Mills and Villages,” who will talk on December 10 about the important role mills played in Huntsville’s development.
