Forrest L. Wood Cup to bring estimated economic impact of 2 Million.

(Huntsville, AL) - The Forrest L. Wood (FLW) Cup presented by Walmart is the world championship of bass fishing, and event organizers announced today in Hot Springs, Arkansas, that they have selected Huntsville, Alabama, for their 2016 activities. For the first time ever, the FLW Cup will take place in the Rocket City August 4 -7, 2016, on Wheeler Lake. The event will launch from Ditto Landing.

Huntsville/Madison County CVB wins big at Alabama Governor’s Conference

(Huntsville, AL) – Add two more accolades to the growing list of recognition and awards for Huntsville and Madison County, Alabama. Leaders from the Huntsville/Madison County Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB), the organization responsible for marketing the area as a visitor and meeting destination, received two honors – Best Alabama Themed Campaign and the Award of Excellence - this August from the Alabama Tourism Department and the Alabama Travel Council during the Alabama Governor’s Conference in Mobile, Alabama, August 1 - August 4, 2015.
Cabela's announces opening date for first Alabama store

A large crowd is expected in late September as Cabela's celebrates the grand opening of its first Alabama outdoor superstore in Huntsville.

The Nebraska retailer announced today there will be a ribbon cutting ceremony with Cabela's leaders and other guests at 9:45 a.m. Sept. 30. The event will conclude with an arrow shot from a bow by a local Cabela's employee.

MONTGOMERY-Governor Robert Bentley on Tuesday announced that Big Bob Gibson, Whitt's, Old Greenbrier, Gibson's, David Gibson's and Mary's Pit Bar-B-Que will be included in a newly created hall of fame to honor Alabama's love of barbecue. The Alabama Barbecue Hall of Fame will include 29 restaurants in Alabama that have been open for at least 50 years.
