September and October brings the Scarecrow Trail back to the Huntsville Botanical Garden. Dozens of wild, wacky, scary and funny crows are once again hiding behind the trees throughout the Garden.
This education center is home to the nation's largest open-air butterfly house. Over 2,000 butterflies grace this 9,000 square foot structure. The nature center is also home to an assortment of critters including snakes, quail, hummingbirds, frogs, fish & turtles.
Through hands-on interactive displays & modules, visitors can design their own trip to Mars. A 360-degree "Future Theatre" lets visitors look into the future of exploration & deep into space. The exhibit includes artifacts from the past & present space programs including space suits, a lunar rover tire, a camera, early fuel cells & space shuttle tiles.
Enjoy drive-through observation & feeding of free ranging rare & endangered animals. Your self-guided tour also includes reptiles & amphibians from around the world, as well as various species of fowl.
This presentation will discuss the 5 hour, brutal battle, which took place November 30, 1864, where the Confederate Army suffered tremendous losses in men & high ranking officers. Even though the Federal Army, with far fewer casualites, left the field pursued by the Confederates, the Confederate Army of Tennessee would never be effective as a fighting force again.
