from our friends at Downtown Huntsville, Inc.:

The recent restrictions on local businesses have taken their toll, including limiting the number of patrons that can dine in our local restaurants. Downtown Huntsville, Inc. (DHI) and the City of Huntsville are working to remedy that issue by closing the block of Holmes Avenue between Jefferson Street and Spragins Street and allowing nearby restaurants to place extra patio seating on the road.

From 5:00-9:00 pm on Friday and Saturday evenings through the month of June, this section of Holmes will be converted to an outdoor dining space to provide extra socially distanced seating for the Downtown Huntsville patrons.

"We're grateful that the City of Huntsville has agreed to provide additional socially-distanced outdoor dining spaces on Holmes Avenue.” said DHI CEO and President, Chad Emerson. “This increased dining is open to all patrons of Downtown establishments as we work to provide increased opportunities to our guests and our small business entrepreneurs in the Rocket City Center."

While this is not considered a “block party,” we hope that people wanting to support our Downtown Huntsville food and beverage establishments will join us for socially distanced dining on Holmes Avenue. A musician from Arts Huntsville’s Summer Street Jams event will be playing each night from 5:30-6:30 pm.
