Hidden Gardens of Old Town
- Old Town Historic District
In honor of the Bicentennial Celebration of Huntsville’s contribution as the birthplace of Alabama, Huntsville’s own Old Town Historic District will open fifteen of its ‘hidden’ gardens on Sunday June 2, 2019 for visitors to stroll through. In addition to opening its gardens, several of Old Town’s historic homes stories will be presented for street-side enjoyment. Histories of select homes will be presented on curbside markers. Houses date back as far as 1820.
Visitors are asked to park in the various parking lots located on Meridian Street where it intersects Walker Avenue. Proceed up Walker Avenue to the ticket station where tickets will be on sale for $10 per person over the age of 12. Then climb on board a trolley which will take you to the starting point of the tour. Once off the trolley, visitors may stroll through the gardens, stop at selected homes located between gardens, stop for ice cream or shaved ice from two food trucks and even stroll around old vintage cars on display.
Tickets on sale at the Visitor Center, 500 Church Street NW. Rain date is the following Sunday, June 9.
