Huntsville in Music: Máté Balogh & Curtis Lindsay

Let’s face it: many of our favorite composers, having left their lasting marks on the world, are now idly decomposing somewhere. The good news? There are plenty of composers alive and well today, and a few of them have strong, thriving associations with the city we call home. In today’s program, Maestro Gregory Vajda spotlights the work of two such artists with premieres of new works: Hungary’s Máté Balogh, who has written a suite warmly dedicated to the people of Huntsville in reminiscence of his 2019 visit to the Rocket City, and Huntsville’s own Curtis Lindsay, a native of Athens, Alabama, with music depicting an adventure on the Tennessee Valley’s beautiful, meandering Elk River.
