The Underground Railroad had no tracks or train cars, but it moved thousands of slaves from the South to the North. Learn some of the exciting stories of the brave women and men who risked their lives to achieve freedom for themselves and for others. Follow the clues from one “safe” house to the next as you travel on a simulated path to freedom. Hear the music from this time and learn its significance as you create a craft that will reminds you of the methods these courageous individuals used to escape slavery and build new lives for themselves in freedom. Activities will start at 11:00 and at 1:00. It takes approximately 1.5 hours to complete all Underground Railroad activities.
In appreciation of all the hard work that teachers do to provide quality education to children, teachers plus one guest will be admitted free of charge on this day.
