Hailed by the Baltimore Sun as a “masterful clarinetist” of “impressive gifts,” Anthony McGill is Principal Clarinet of the New York Philharmonic and an internationally acclaimed solo artist. In his debut with the Huntsville Symphony Orchestra, he will perform Weber’s Clarinet Concerto No. 1 as well as Debussy’s intimate, enchanting First Rhapsody for clarinet and orchestra. The festivities continue with Berlioz’ Roman Carnival Overture and César Franck’s grand Symphony in D minor.

The HSO is the oldest, continuously operating professional orchestra in the state of Alabama. The Orchestra’s genesis is intricately linked with the arrival of Wernher von Braun and his German rocket team, marking the beginning of an era of sensational growth in our city and creating a unique synthesis between old and new, cherished traditions and unprecedented progress
