Celebrate Black History Month at Burritt on the Mountain

Burritt on the Mountain is pleased to announce the return of our educational event in honor of Black History Month, Underground Railroad: Journey to Freedom, on Feb 11th at 11am & 1pm. Experience the Underground Railroad, hear the music from this era and learn its significance.

Start the event off with a short discussion about slavery and the Underground Railroad, then enjoy a simulation in the Historic Park. There will be true stories shared of people who worked on or traveled the Underground Railroad. Participants will also be able to create a craft that will remind you of the methods these courageous individuals used to escape slavery and build new lives for themselves.

This event is suitable for children and adults.  Allow 1 hour and 45 minutes to complete all of the activities planned. Patrons can pick and choose activities or participate in all. The tour is included with regular admission. Participation is limited to the first 30 people at each offering.
