NASA Human Exploration Rover Challenge
Every April, the most brilliant young minds gather in Huntsville to participate in the NASA Human Exploration Rover Challenge, a student competition designed to spark ideas for interplanetary exploration that's hosted by the U.S. Space & Rocket Center. Over a weekend, student teams of six members are tasked with building human-powered rovers to navigate a half-mile obstacle course made to mimic extraterrestrial terrain like craters, boulders, inclines and ridges! And spectators are welcome – even encouraged.
Not only is the Rover Challenge just so “Huntsville,” it’s also a super fun and ingenious way to inspire future generations to think about the technical and logistical challenges of future space exploration.
