Huntsville, Ala – The Huntsville Museum of Art is excited to present Days of Punk: Photographs by Michael Grecco from Oct. 17, 2025, through Feb. 1, 2026.
Days of Punk showcases more than 100 striking images by acclaimed photographer and filmmaker Michael Grecco. The exhibition captures the energy, defiance, and lasting influence of the punk rock movement of the late 1970s and early 1980s.
Grecco, who was embedded in the underground scenes of New York and Boston, documented legendary figures such as Adam Ant, Billy Idol, The Clash, Joan Jett, and Johnny Rotten. His photographs reveal the unfiltered personalities and rebellious spirit that defined punk’s cultural legacy.
“Michael Grecco’s work immerses visitors in a moment when music, fashion, and attitude collided to create a movement that continues to inspire generations,” said Christopher Madkour, executive director of the Huntsville Museum of Art. “We are excited to share this trailblazing exhibition with our community.”
Reflecting on his work, Grecco said: “When I walked into my first punk club in Boston at age eighteen, I found myself in a world where everyone belonged. Punk was bold, self-expressed, and free. It gave me permission to be myself. From 1978 to 1986, I captured its stars on stage, behind the curtain, and on the streets. The spirit of punk was extraordinary, and I hope these images let others feel its infectious freedom.”
The exhibition has previously been presented internationally in Portugal, Spain, and the United Kingdom, where it drew wide acclaim from audiences and critics alike.
As part of the exhibition, Grecco will visit Huntsville to deliver an artist talk on Thursday, Nov. 6, 2025. Visitors will have the opportunity to hear firsthand about his experiences capturing some of punk’s most iconic figures.
