MIDCITY HUNTSVILLE BREAKING GROUND FOR HIGH POINT CLIMBING & FITNESS
North Alabama’s first climbing gym preparing for construction in the nation’s 4th largest commercial development.
HUNTSVILLE, ALA. — RCP Companies, an Alabama-based real estate firm, announces the ground breaking ceremony commencing construction on what will be North Alabama’s first full service rock climbing facility and an outdoor Adrenline Zone at MidCity Huntsville. MidCity Huntsville is the highly anticipated $500 million experiential, midtown district at the intersection of two of North Alabama’s primary commercial corridors – University Drive and Research Park Boulevard.
High Point Climbing and Fitness, a Chattanooga based company, will hold the groundbreaking ceremony at MidCity Huntsville on Tuesday, July 10, from 3:30-4:30PM directly adjacent to Top Golf. Following the ceremony, the community is invited to celebrate and meet the High Point team at The Camp at MidCity from 4:30-6:00PM with music, food and refreshments.
The 25,000 square foot climbing gym is schedule to open Summer 2019 and will feature expansive bouldering and rope climbing areas along with a 2,400 square foot “Kid Zone” that has climbing elements designed specifically for young climbers. High Point Huntsville will also offer weight training and cardio equipment, a yoga studio, gear shop, and two event rooms, to provide members and guests a full complement of amenities. Construction is expected to begin later this month. Highpoint will also build and operate the Adrenaline Zone in the adjacent Public Park including an activated 40 foot outdoor climbing wall.
Johnny O'Brien and John Wiygul, Co-Owners of High Point Climbing, continually strive to create unique climbing experiences for each market and the MidCity location will carry on this goal. "High Point in downtown Chattanooga was named the coolest climbing gym in the country by Climbing Magazine in 2015, and we anticipate this project will also receive national attention," says O'Brien.
High Point will offer various youth programs; including clubs and teams that compete in USA Climbing sporting events, and professional climbing instruction for beginner to expert level rock climbers. Wiygul stresses the importance of adding as much value to our members and guest experiences as possible. "We want to exceed everyone's expectations, from the friendly staff to the quality of the climbing walls, we want our gym in Huntsville to reflect every positive attribute the climbing community has to offer," says Wiygul.
