FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
December 4. 2017
Huntsville, Ala. – The Huntsville Museum of Art (HMA) is thrilled to welcome Puerto Rican artist, Adrián Villeta, back to Huntsville on Friday, December 8th for a book signing and reception.
Adrián Villeta was a featured artist at the Huntsville Museum of Art in 2014. He considers himself a portrait artist, more than simply a photographer. He combines painting and photography to capture in his work the grace and elegance of a bygone era, while celebrating the modern virtues of strength, independence and self confidence in his subjects.
According to artist, author, actress and fashion icon Gloria Vanderbilt, “Adrián Villeta draws us into a sacred place where our spirit is restored by the beauty of his vision.”
The book signing will take place on Friday, December 8th at 5:30 p.m. at the Huntsville Museum of Art and will be followed by a cocktail reception catered by Lyn’s Gracious Goodness. The cost of the book, Poetic Vision, is $85, or $110 for the Gift Edition. 15% of the proceeds will benefit the Puerto Rico Hurricane Relief Fund and 5% will benefit HMA.
Adrián Villeta holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Corcoran School of Art in Washington, DC. His work has been included in several exhibitions and his portraits are part of many private collections. “For me, art is like a language of emotions, emotions coming from personal experiences. Throughout my 30 year career as a professional portraitist, more than a photographer, I have been driven by the desire to create in my work the beauty that I envision in my dreams,” remarked Villeta.
This event is hosted by the following committee: Sara and Michael Ahearn, Cynthia and Rey Almodovar, Lyn and Gil Aust, Leslie and Moss Crosby, Tod and Melissa Dodgen, Kerry and Tom Doran, Sarah and Carl Gessler, Joyce Griffin, Patsy and Frank Haws, Carole and Buddy Jones, Shelbie King, Betsy and Peter Lowe, Christopher Madkour, Lee and David Nast, Jean and Jerre Penney, Jean Templeton, Middie and Tommy Thompson, and Kay and Don Wheeler.
