HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (July 18, 2024) – Huntsville Botanical Garden (HBG) is offering a new and unique learning experience for 4- and 5-year-olds as it launches its new Garden Sprouts Pre-K program. Registration is open now for the fall semester which will start Sept. 4, 2024 and will go through Dec. 20, 2024.
Garden Sprouts’ approach integrates nature play, enabling children to observe, explore, and engage with the natural world, fostering a sense of wonder and encouraging discovery and experimentation. Through this hands-on, experiential method, children are introduced to essential Pre-K topics, preparing them for transition to Kindergarten.
“What sets Garden Sprouts Pre-K apart from other early childhood programs is our foundation of a nature play philosophy,” said HBG Vice President of Learning and Public Engagement Rebecca Turk. “The children will spend at least 70% of their time outdoors in the Garden’s living ‘laboratory’ each day for hands-on activities that encourage discovery and experimentation.”
Garden Sprouts Pre-K is for 4- and 5-year-olds (must be of age by September 1) and will take place Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuition is $400 per month for Garden members and $500 per month for non-members. Sibling discounts are available. A non-refundable $100 application fee (per child) is required with the application to secure a spot in the program. Pre-registration is required and must be done online.
