Secret Artemis II Downtown Art Trail Relaunch

HUNTSVILLE, AL – The Rocket City Artemis II Community Planning Committee, Teledyne Brown Engineering, and Downtown Huntsville, Inc. are excited to announce the relaunch of the Secret Artemis II Downtown Art Trail. First introduced in 2022 to celebrate NASA’s inaugural Artemis launch, this signature downtown experience continues to honor Huntsville’s legacy as a leader in space exploration.

For more than seventy years, Huntsville has played an integral role in advancing NASA’s mission to drive advances in science, technology, aeronautics, and space exploration. The Secret Artemis Trail honors that history by inviting the community to embark on a fun and educational search throughout Downtown Huntsville. Ten one-foot-tall Artemis rocket models have been carefully hidden around the city center, waiting to be discovered. Participants can begin their adventure by picking up a trail card at the Downtown Huntsville, Inc. (DHI) office or the Huntsville/Madison County Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB). Once you find all the Artemis rockets, follow the directions on the back of the trail card to receive your official Artemis II sticker!

To celebrate the relaunch of the Artemis II mission, the community is invited to a special gathering:

Date: Tuesday, December 16, 2025

Time: 4:00 PM

Location: The Mayor’s Tinsel Trail Tree, Big Spring Park West (Located on the attached map with the letter “M” and the DHI logo)

The event will feature remarks from:

  • Mayor Tommy Battle, City of Huntsville
  • Mac McCutcheon, Madison County Commission Chairman
  • Rae Ann Meyer, Interim Director, Marshall Space Flight Center
  • Ron Poteat, Interim CEO, Downtown Huntsville, Inc.

"Huntsville has been intertwined with space exploration for more than seventy years, and the Secret Artemis II Trail is a creative way to celebrate that legacy while inspiring the next generation. By bringing space-themed art into our streets and public spaces, we’re reminding our community that Huntsville’s role in reaching for the stars doesn’t just live inside laboratories and launch pads; it lives in our downtown, our small businesses, and our local artists. This relaunch is about honoring where we’ve been as a spacefaring city and doubling down on our commitment to be part of where humanity is going next."  Ron Poteat, Interim CEO, Downtown Huntsville, Inc.
