(HUNTSVILLE, Ala.) – There is no such thing as too many cooks in the kitchen when it comes to the Stone Event Center’s Rocket City Burger Battle at Campus No. 805. Six local restaurants will gather in the Campus Cafeteria on July 13 to determine who has the Rocket City’s best burger.  The participating restaurants are as follows:

●        Ale’s Kitchen

●        Below the Radar

●        West End Grill

●        Peppered Pig

●        Phat Sammy’s

●        Mezza Luna

Participants will be going off menu to create an original and creative burger. Guests are invited to sample the creations, as long as they last, and cast votes for the People’s Choice award. A panel of judges will award the title of “Best Burger” and “Most Creative Burger” in addition to prize money.

“The Rocket City Burger Battle is the perfect opportunity for local chefs to put their culinary skills to the test,” says Bubba Connor, a popular catering chef and judge for the Rocket City Burger Battle. “I’m expecting participants to bring their A-game with different flavor combinations and reinventions of the standard burger.”

Although the Rocket City Burger Battle won’t be asking if guests “want fries with that,” there will be plenty of vendors on site to offer up a chance to shop or sample some sweet treats. Throughout the day, beverages and local brews from Huntsville favorites like Straight to Ale and Yellowhammer Brewing will be available for purchase to help wash it all down.

“What could be better than a summer Saturday spent enjoying music, games, drinks and burgers?” said Conner. “On top of all that, the Campus Cafeteria offers a nostalgic (and air conditioned!) location for the festivities.”

The Rocket City Burger Battle is free to attend and sample tasting tickets, starting at $2, will be available for purchase at the door. Proceeds from the ticket sales will benefit Free 2 Teach, a local nonprofit that provides free resources to teachers throughout Huntsville and Madison County.

The event is sponsored by Bank Independent, Century Automotive, Costco, Torch Technologies and Tom Jeffreys Sign and Banner. Halsey Foodservice is the official food service provider for the battle and Star 99.1 and Rocket 95.1 are the official media partners.

If you are interested in attending the Rocket City Burger Battle, visit Campus No. 805’s Facebook event page. For more information on participating in the Burger Battle, call the Stone Event Center at 256-519-6212 or email them at stonecenter@campus805.com.

The Stone Event Center is Campus No. 805’s premier event venue.  The Stone Event Center has space to host parties, meetings, weddings, luncheons and special dinners. Clients are able to rent out the Campus Cafeteria, Teacher’s Lounge and AV Room.
