One thing Huntsville does really well is give you plenty of options for a night out. You can grab dinner, have a drink somewhere completely different, and end the night listening to live music without driving all over the city.
So whether you’re visiting Huntsville for the weekend, planning a date night, or just looking for an excuse to get out of the house, here are three ways to plan a night around good food and even better music.
Option One: When You Want to Dress Up & Impress
If the plan is to get dressed up and make a full night of it, start with dinner at Harvest Moon inside Trilogy Hotel. Executive Chef Alexander Wolf has created a menu that really makes this place worth visiting on its own. From fresh seafood to their pork chop over grits, this is one of those dinners where you’ll want to take your time. And please save room for dessert because the bread pudding is to die for.
After dinner, there's no need to go far. Head upstairs to Vesper Sky Lounge for a drink off of their rotating menu and one of the best rooftop views of Big Spring Park.
Then walk across the street to the Von Braun Center. If you’re interested in a larger concert or musical production, Propst Arena is where you’ll find it. For something a little more intimate, check the calendar at Mars Music Hall. It’s a smaller venue with an open floor and balcony, so you get a completely different feel than an arena show. Either way, dinner, drinks, and live music are all within a few minutes of each other.
Option Two: When You Want to Keep It Cute & Casual
If you enjoy an evening that is a little bit more casual, start the night at Dragon Alley in MidCity. This newer Asian street food restaurant and bar is made for sharing, with handmade dumplings, bao, noodles, fried rice, and plenty of small plates to order for the table. Plus if it's your birthday, you are in for a fun surprises. It's a fun date night option when you want good food without making the evening feel too formal.
After dinner, stop by Perseus Sound Bar Lounge, Huntsville’s newest sound bar, for drinks before making your way over to The Orion Amphitheater. Seeing a show at The Orion is one of those Huntsville experiences everyone should try at least once. Gates open typically 2 hours before shows, so you can peruse around the campus grounds, grab a drink, find your seat, and end the night listening to live music under the stars.
Option Three: When You Just Want to Go With the Flow
Not every night out needs reservations or concert tickets, especially if you're more of a go-with-the-flow person or planning a last-minute date night. For something that works pretty much any day of the week, start at Stovehouse and let the night take it from there.
With plenty of food options, drinks, and outdoor seating, you can each grab whatever you're in the mood for and meet back at the table. If you want to start the evening a little slower, grab a glass of wine or share a flight at Charlie Foster's Espresso Wine Bar, or head to Old 5th Bar for a craft cocktail and rooftop views before finding a spot in the outdoor green space.
