Getting Healthy in Huntsville - Quick Tips

The Cozy Cow

I love drinking smoothies in the morning, and The Cozy Cow has some of the best in town. This café is tucked away on Church Street overlooking Big Spring International Park and serves coffee, ice cream, sandwiches, and much more. I went with the Orange Sunset smoothie- a blend of orange, pineapple, and banana. It was delicious, and I felt fueled up for the next part of my day!

Madison County Nature Trail

To get a little exercise in, I visited the Madison County Nature Trail on Green Mountain. This park is free to the public and offers 72 acres, a 1.5 mile walking trail, a covered bridge, and a historic cabin. I love reading the history of the Green family posted at the entrance and at the cabin, and the small plaques along the trail offering information about the flora are a great way to learn about nature.

Mason Dixon Bakery

After hiking up an appetite, I joined my mom and sister at Mason Dixon Bakery- Alabama’s first gluten free bakery and bistro- for a healthy lunch. Whether you are gluten intolerant, paleo, vegan, or just curious like me, you’ll find something delicious here. Mom and I went for the Caesar salad, while Megan got the Mason Dixon BLT. As a treat, we split a delicious chocolate peppermint cupcake.

Hope you enjoyed these healthy picks from the area!
