Though severe weather can strike at any time, tornadoes are most common through the months of March-May. If you happen to be visiting when an emergency or severe weather occurs, we want you to have the resources you need to stay as safe as possible.

Madison County is located within Central North Alabama, and sometimes referred to as the "Tennessee Valley."

If you are staying at a hotel or motel, your front desk personnel should be able to direct you to the proper safe space in the event of severe weather. Keep in mind that the lowest level of a building (preferably basements or underground spaces) are generally the safest options during a tornado. What's the difference in a Tornado Watch vs. a Tornado Warning?
