Matt Kroschel is a former Emmy Award-winning television reporter who currently works alongside a talented team of storytellers at Red Sage Communications, a big career change allowing him to provide marketing solutions for some of the best companies, nonprofits, and government agencies in the state.
This is the second time around in the Rocket City for Matt. You may remember him from his reporting stent with WHNT-TV as a reporter from 2012-2015. At that time, Matt was called back to Colorado with a job offer at CBS News, Denver serving as their mountain correspondent for the last five years.
But Matt couldn't shake the Alabama itch. Along with his family, Matt made the big, cross-country move back to Huntsville in 2020, opening up a small bed-and-breakfast AirB&B called the #RedDoorRetreat in their Madison County home. They welcome guests from all over the country to the area providing local insight and advice like you will find on this blog.
Matt's husband, Chris Refer is a Realtor with Exit Realty North and leverages his extensive knowledge of the area, growing up just up the road in the Ardmore area, to help folks find their dream home, just like we have! Both Matt and Chris are accomplished artists, sharing their love of painting and drawing with their guests staying in their home and creating custom works of art that are found hanging on walls from California to New York. You will probably run into the couple hanging out with Leo, Harvey and Noah at the Huntsville dog park, grabbing a bit to eat at Cotton Row downtown, or sketching at the Huntsville Botanical Garden. Say hello and follow Matt on his social media channels.
