Monte Sano Campground – Your Forest Getaway

Wooded and secluded, the campground at Monte Sano State Park has 59 sites with water and 30 amp service, a pavilion and 2 bathhouses with laundry facilities.  If your vacation plans include the outdoors, Monte Sano’s 22 miles of hiking and biking trails, scenic overlooks and a disc golf course meandering through the woods are sure to please.  Five Points and Downtown Huntsville is just down the mountain when you are ready for a night out.

U.S. Space and Rocket Center RV Campground – Hub for City Explorers

US Space and Rocket Center RV

Located immediately off 565, the U.S. Space and Rocket Center offers 27 full hook up sites with 30 amp service in a quiet nook.  This site is not only perfect for families attending Space Camp, but if you want to see all that Huntsville has to offer, this RV park has the most convenient access to all of Huntsville and Madison City.

Ditto Landing – River Enthusiast

Nestled under a grove of oak trees, the Ditto Landing Campground provides 30 and 50 amp service and a large bathhouse a short walk from the Tennessee River, Ditto Harbor and the Tennessee River Greenway.  If you want to fish, go boating or just enough the peace of the river, this is the campground for you.  Never fear; everything the city has to offer is just a few miles north.

Sharon Johnston Park Campground – Hidden Gem

Located about 20 minutes from downtown Huntsville in New Market, AL, Sharon Johnston Park Campground is a hidden gem with 50 well-spaced campsites. Most are full-hookup with water, sewer, and 50amp electric. There are also a handful of rustic sites available. While most of the sites are back-in providing about twice as much room as other campgrounds, they’ve recently added 11 paved pull-through sites. Each site offers a picnic table and fire ring, as well as access to picnic pavilions with grills. The beautiful 250-acre park includes a frontier town, rodeo arena, pool, and a fishing pond.

Parnell Creek – Daytripper Retreat

Family owned and operated, Parnell Creek RV Park has 50 sites, 30 and 50 amp service and numerous amenities including a pool, mini golf, fitness center and playground.  Halfway between Huntsville and Scottsboro in the town of Woodville off Highway 72, a stay at Parnell Creek is easy central access to Walls of Jericho, Cathedral Caverns, Unclaimed Baggage, the Space and Rocket Center, DeSoto Falls, Monte Sano State Park, and more.

Point Mallard Campground – An Active Neighborhood

Located just minutes from 565 and the Tennessee River, and an easy 20 minute drive to Huntsville,  Point Mallard Campground is a large campground with 233 full-hookup sites. The park also has six primitive sites for tent camping. Point Mallard does not take reservations for the campground from May through July. During that time sites are first-come-first-serve. Sites throughout the park vary in size and shape, including both shady and sunny sites. Each site has a picnic table and a fire ring.

Quail Creek Golf and RV Resort – Golfer’s Dream

Located about 5 minutes off of I65 in Hartselle, AL, Quail Creek Golf and RV Resort is the newest RV Park in North Alabama. Quail Creek is about a 30-minute drive from Huntsville, but offers cheaper rates than many closer parks and campgrounds. The RV Park is located in a field next to the Golf Resort and features 31 paved full-hookup sites.   The park also offers modern bath suites and a laundry room.

Northgate RV Travel Park – Overnight Stop

Located just off I65 on HWY 251 in Athens, AL, Northgate RV Travel Park is not so much a campground or RV park, but a good place to stay as you pass through North Alabama. The park offers 24 full-hookup, pull-through sites large enough to accommodate most any RV. The park does not offer any amenities, but is conveniently located with easy access to Athens and Huntsville.
